Guests Don’t Want to Scroll: What We Learned - 90 Days of Voice

Hotel websites have never had more content.

Room descriptions, image galleries, FAQs, maps, dining pages, spa pages, offers, loyalty programs.

Yet guests still ask the same questions.

Do you have private pools?

How far is the beach?

What is the sunset view really like?

Is it worth booking direct?

The problem is not missing information.

The problem is friction.

Guests do not want to hunt through pages.

They do not want to scroll endlessly on mobile.

They want answers, immediately.

The Reality of Guest Behaviour in 2025

Most hotel websites are designed to be browsed.

Guests no longer behave that way.

They arrive with intent.

They want clarity.

They want reassurance.

If they cannot quickly understand what makes a hotel right for them, they leave. Not because the hotel is wrong, but because the effort is too high.

Hotels responded by adding more content.

More pages.

More photos.

More FAQs.

That approach increases friction rather than removing it.

What Hotels Typically Try First

Before Voice AI, most hotels experimented with the same tools.

Chatbots that sit in the corner and get ignored.

Long FAQ pages that are rarely read.

Static images that require guests to guess context.

Email enquiries that staff answer repeatedly.

Review platforms that demand daily attention.

These tools are not broken.

They are just not aligned with how guests want to interact today.

So instead of adding more layers, we tested a different approach.

A Live Test on a Real Hotel Website

In late 2025, we launched Kalim, a Voice AI assistant, live on the website of Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay.

This was not a demo.

This was not a lab test.

This was live traffic.

Kalim sits directly on the website.

Not a chatbot.

Not a popup.

Guests speak naturally, in their own language, and the website responds by showing the answer visually.

Rooms.

Pools.

Views.

Location context.

Exactly what guests are trying to picture when deciding whether to book.

What Happened in the First 90 Days

The results were simple and clear.

• 310 real guest conversations from people actively considering a stay

• Guests did not type. They spoke

• Conversations happened in multiple languages including Arabic, Hindi, French and English

• When guests asked questions, real photos were shown instantly

• 22 guests chose to leave their email to book later with a direct incentive

No forced forms.

No aggressive prompts.

No disruption to the website experience.

Guests asked.

The website showed.

They stayed longer.

An Unexpected Benefit: Rate Control

A common concern with AI is discount pressure.

What happens when guests push for cheaper rates?

In this case, Kalim did not negotiate.

He did not improvise.

He did not cave.

When guests asked for deeper discounts, Kalim calmly redirected them to Club Wyndham, the correct channel for those offers.

The result was simple.

Guests felt guided, not blocked.

The hotel maintained rate integrity.

Staff were not pulled into awkward conversations.

This mattered more than we expected.

Review Responses Running Quietly in the Background

At the same time, AI handled guest review responses.

Not generic replies.

Not templated phrases.

Consistent, on-brand responses that reflected the tone of the hotel.

For hotel teams, this removed a quiet but constant burden.

Reviews still received attention.

Brand voice stayed consistent.

Staff did not have to hover over review platforms every day.

Why This Matters Heading Into 2026

This is not about replacing people.

It is about removing friction at the exact moment guests need clarity.

Guests already know how to talk to their phone.

They do not want to learn a new interface.

They do not want to scroll for answers they could simply ask.

Voice AI changes how a website behaves.

Instead of a library, it becomes a conversation.

Instead of browsing, guests get guidance.

Instead of guessing, they see exactly what they asked about.

The Question Hotels Should Be Asking

Do you have someone on your website right now, ready to answer guest questions and show what makes your hotel unique, in the guest’s language, the moment they ask?

Or are you still relying on guests to scroll long enough to figure it out themselves?

This was a small start.

But the signal is clear.

This is what direct booking looks like when you remove friction.
